A
  1. Set apart to God for service (positional)

2. Progressive ethical and moral conforming to Christ (conditional)

17
Q

Acceptance vs. Approval

A

Acceptance (or membership) in the family of God does not depend in any way on my character or behavior. It depends totally on accepting his free gift through Jesus.
Approval (or maturity) in the family of God depends in part on my faithfulness in living out the life he has given me. He gives me his spirit, his body, and his encouragement to help me do this.

18
Q

New Covenant Spirituality

A

If I stop and think, especially in community, and do what will make me most deeply happy, I will almost always do the right thing because I have a new heart that desires the things of God.

19
Q

Perseverance of the Saints vs. Perseverance of the Believer

A

Those that God effectually calls will be kept by God to the end vs. The believer in Jesus who continues will be kept by the power of God

20
Q

State/Defend Redemptive Grace

A

Common grace (Rom. 1; 2 Thess. 2) and
prevenient grace that allows all to make a decision for Christ.
God takes initiative in salvation (Gen. 3:9, 9; John 15:16).
Freedom to accept gospel implied in the command to convert (Rom. 2:4-11; Tit. 2:11; John 12:32).

What about John 6:44? Universal attraction, not limited dragging.

21
Q

State/Defend Sanctification

A

New Covenant Spirituality
We are set apart for God’s service, which is true of us at conversion/justification (1 Cor. 1:30; Eph. 1:6).
But we are also being progressively purified in our Christian walk. There is a continuing conflict in the believer’s life (Gal. 5:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:), but we have had a heart change (Gal. 5; Ezek. 36). CAPP.
Holy Spirit gives new heart and provides help, but I must put off and put on.

What about Scripture saying our hearts are deceitful and wicked? That’s old man.

22
Q

State/Defend Perseverance

A

John 10:26-30
