Exam 3: PCR Flashcards
(6 cards)
1
Q
What is PCR used for?
A
to amplify small samples of DNA
2
Q
Why do you need to use a heat-stable DNA P in PCR?
A
First step of the reaction requires temp to be between 90°C to 100°C to separate the two DNA strands.
Most enzymes are denatured at this temperature. With the use of a heat-stable polymerase, the enzyme can be added at the beginning of the reaction and will function throughout multiple cycles.
3
Q
1 PCR cycle
A
Denaturation to annealing to extention
4
Q

A
94 to 98
5
