A student wanted to compare the mean petal length of Iris Versicolor and Iris Setosa
Describe a method to obtain measurements for and accurately compare the mean petal length of these two Iris species (6 marks)
1/ Divide the area into sections
2/ Use a computer to generate random numbers for a coordinate
3/ Use the same method for measuring the petals
4/ Repeat a large number of times for each species (10)
5/ Fin the mean by adding the sum of petal lengths and divide by the number of plants for each species
6/ Calculate a running kean until the number comes fair constant
7/ Calculate the standard deviation
8/ Overlapo SD no significant difference in mean petal length
In a eukaryotic cell, transcription results in a molecule of pre - mRNA that is modified to produce mRNA. In a prokaryotic cell transcription produces mRNA directly.
Explain this difference
Prokaryotic do not undergo splicing because they do not have introns, so they can produce mRNA directly
