Example of Misinformation as a business

A

One business model which worked in 2016 was by generating ad revenue by spreading fake news. This was known as the Macedonian Fake News Factories which happened during the 2016 US election, where dozens of Macedonian teenagers created fake websites that spread pro-Trump conspiracy theories. These sites gained massive traffic, leading to high ad revenue from platforms like Google AdSense and Facebook ads. And many creators admitted that they did this purely for the cash and not for any political reasons
