Explain the process of the absorption of lipids

Answer 1

Bile salts combine with fatty acids, glycerol + monoglycerides to form micelles
Transports them to the surface of the epithelial cell - poorly water soluble
Micelles break and products diffuse through the membrane (lipid soluble)
Products are reformed at the SER to form triglycerides
At Golgi body the triglycerides are packaged in proteins and phospholipids to form chylomicrons
Absorbed into the lacteals (lymphatic vessels) in the villi which eventually drains into the blood
