Dissolve the sample in an excess of acid (more acid than a tablet can neutralize), let the active ingredients neutralize as much acid as possible, and then determine how much acid remains using a simple acid-base titration.

1) Dissolve the antacid tablet in dH2O.
2) Add a known amount of HCl.
3) Heat the solution on a hot plate to drive off the CO2.
4) Let solution cool then add the indicator.
5) Titrate with NaOH.
