A

began when Shah Ismail became ruler, at about age fifteen.
was a poet and during the time of his reign, arts and cultures were very important.
Sunni dynasty to a Shi Dynasty. huge mosques and schools that were built off of the religion.
empire continued to grow and flourish because they were in the center of several trade routes.
in power from 1501 to 1524. After Ismail’s reign, the dynasty still continued for about 200 years.
claimed to be related to Imam Ali, the Prophet Muhammad’s cousin/wife.

after the establishment of Shi’ism as the state religion, many Sunnis in the area were killed.

Later, the Safavids gained Tabriz, which became a vibrant trading city and was declared as Shah Ismail I’s capital.

Overtime, differences were worked out and stronger militaries were formed.

The Safavid Empire was in the middle of several trade routes going to Asia and Europe, including the Silk Road.

Empire received several imports, such as spices, textiles, and wool and the Empire also exported goods like horses and pearls.

natives in america started to rapidly die from disease because their bodies weren’t used to the foreign things and a lot of people died
=a decrease in population and they also prob didnt have vaccines for the diseases the spanish or europeans brought
