How would colonization occur?
When one country conquers another, takingcontrol ofthe indigenous peoples of the land.
How did the Triangle of Trade work? How did it benefit colonizing countries?
The Triangle of Trade was a trade route that connected Europe, Africa, and the Americas. This benefited the colonizing countries because it provided resources that they could not obtain in their own countries.
How did the Courier de Bois help develop the future “Canada” in two ways?
The Courier de Bois contributed to the establishment of the fur trade as well as the mapping of Canada’s landscape.
Why was the Hudson Bay Company an English-created company?
Radisson and Groseilliers were punished by the French government for trapping furs on indigenous lands. They then told the English about a route that connected the St. Lawrence River to Hudson Bay. The English took advantage of this opportunity seized Hudson Bay and established the Hudson Bay Company.
Why were the explorations of MacKenzie, Fraser & Thompson important?
They all found important rivers which were used for transportation.
How did fur traders gain an unfair advantage over natives when trading?
Fur traders knew the values of the furs while the indigenous did not.

Why did conflicts occur between the English & French?
Conflicts occurred because ofthe desire for rich, fertileland between the French and the English.
Why did the natives side with the nations they did?
They could use one country against another to achieve what their people desired.

Louisbourg was taken as the walls were deteriorating and generals werearguingwithin the fort.
Why was the fall of Quebec significant to France?
Quebec was like the capital for New France. Once Quebec fell it meant that New France would also be conquered.

- Paid for goods rather then taking them
- Allowed The French to keep guns for hunting

The English kept the French as it increased tax payers and provided for skills they did not have.

They were angry as they could not expand their colony into the Ohio River Valley
Reasons why the English changed their relationship with the Natives and began treating Natives overall with more respect
Chief Pontiac united many native tribes to defeat the English. T he natives lost the war, somany of them made peace with the English. The English government then recognizes and acknowledges indigenous concerns and begins to treat them more respectfully. Furthermore, because the English army was dispersed around the world, it was preferable for them to negotiate peace in order to avoid conflicts.
Who were the incoming United Empire Loyalists a threat to and why?
The United Empire Loyalists were a threat to the French. The Loyalists fled to Canada after the revolution and the French felt outnumbered by population. This affected voting power.
Why did the U.S. attack the Canadas?
The Americans were angered that the British supported natives who opposed American expansion into their lands. Additionally, American trade with the British Empire was stopped. As a result, the United States launched an attack on Canada.
Who didn’t want to join in the War of 1812 against the Canadas and why?
The English had good trades secured and did not want to destroy it
Who made a difference in the War of 1812 for the English and why?
The natives assisted the English during the War of 1812. Tecumseh’s war tactics, in particular, greatly helped in the defeat of the Americans.
4 ways Nationalism of B.N.A./Canada began to develop
- Canada developed as a result of the English victory over the French but negotiations were made so that French colonists who were conquered could coexist peacefully with them
- Upper and Lower Canada borders are established.
- Native alliances established with shifting attitudes toward native land claims
- A sense of “us versus them” with the English victory over Americans in the War of 1812
