how does structure show high alert

A

each stanza begins with a blunt and powerful sentence, these sentences are then followed by highly emotive vocabulary choices. each stanza ending with an anticlimax - the way in which the first 4 lines build up a rhyme pattern, only for it to be broken down by the final line shows the build up of adrenaline and anticipation of battle which is never realised.

repetitive rhyme scheme shows the repetitive events the soldiers are suffering through
