Q

What does the Quote ‘It was an act of stealth suggest?

A

This has connotations of the boy being sneaky and sly, the action is morally wrong, here man is proud an arrogant and superior, the writer feels free on passing on nature’s secrets, he feels he is in control of nature. If you act in stealth it means you don’t want to be seen, suggesting he has done something wrong. Wordsworth here presents man as being selfish and taking what ever he wants, without the though of consequence.

Q

What does the Quote ‘Utmost boundary’ suggest?

A

When looking at craggy ridge he realizes it isn’t the end point, he assumes it i. The true shock when he finds it’s not shows the poet doesn’t know everything. His self pride is misplaced he realizes there is more to the world than he perceives, he realizes how unimportant human life. Nature can have a positive impact on mankind, man needs to realize their power in the world, they don’t have the control.

Q

What does the Quote ‘When… a huge peak… upreared its head’?

A

This is where the poet realises the craggy. The sentence structure deliberatlely drags out what has happened There is a huge delay from when he says huge and when. Wordsworth increases the tension and suspense to emphasis to the reader how the poet was feeling at the time. Mans ideas are limited and wrong. The sentence becomes breath taking reflecting the intensity of the moment. The use of the Plosive P and long vowels suggest heaviness and dominance. His ambitious use of language has left him to a simplistic form.

Q

What does the Quote ‘No familiar shapes… No pleasant images…No colours suggest?

A

The repetition of No makes us very aware that the poet realizes, there is more to know about life, the pride he had from before has gone, he only can describe things he doesn’t know, there is a darkness in his tone, he cannot shake of tone. Man and society are not dominant.

Q

What is the form and sturcture of the Poem?

A

This is a Epic poem, the awakening and understanding of power of nature, it was so important it was deserving of being put in his poem , the hero is nature. This is one long verse, we are overwhelmed when we read this out loud. The overwhelming aspect reflects Wordsworth being overwhelmed with nature.
