What is an Adveribial of Time?
Saying when something happened e.g. today, now, tomorrow etc.

A flashback to the past

A series of sentences or phrases that begin with the same word
What is Epiphora?
A series of sentences or phrases that end with the same word
What is Authorial Bias?
When an author presents the story in a biased way
What is Blasphemous Language?
Words that might be considered ungodly or offensive e.g. christ, hell, goddam ect
What is Colloquial Language?
Informal, casual language often found in this novel

The way in which people speak based on the area they come from

Normal speech within quotation marks

When the reader is aware of things that the characters aren’t

The inclusion of many facts as used by Capote, this adds realism, gives us the feeling that we were there too

When a writer deliberately draws the readers attention to something
What is Foreshadowing?
Hinting at events later on in the story

Speech without speech marks, often used to describe a characters thoughts
What is an Intensifier?
A word which comes before the noun in a sentence to add more emphasis

What is Intalicised Language?
Anything written in italics, often used for emphasis
What is Juxtaposition?
When a writer deliberately placed two characters or events side by side
What is a Syndetic List?
A list of items with and before the final one
