Explain situational and dispositional factors that affect obedience

A

Gender- Milgram conducted his study on men and women and found that obedience was the same, 100% went up to 300V but women showed more anxiety than men
Personality- Authoritarian personality, Authoritarian personality less likely to withdraw from Milgram’s study
Proximity - Milgram telephone, obedience fell to 47.5%
Momentum of compliance- Idea that, in Milgram’s study, he started with 15V shocks which is a small order, participants felt obliged to continue shocking so went up to 300V
