  • A group of persons related by virtue of either consanguinity or affinity, with feelings of belonging, support and care. (Poston, 2004)
  • This system of persons is regulated in a very different way along history and across cultures.
  • The goal of family is creating a appropriate developmental scene and give support in their learning process (Rodrigo & Palacios, 1998)

Family diversity refers to a broad range of characteristics or dimensions on which families vary, along with a recognition that there are a multitude of different family types that function effectively. It refers to variations along structural or demographic dimensions (e.g., ethnicity, socioeconomic status), as well as in family processes (e.g., communication and parenting behaviors)”
