What have farmers in the UK been adding to their farming? (5)
A
- (Castleton) Pollytunnels, provide protection from heavy rain and frost.
- Table top fruit stands, stops fruit being eaten by insects + easier to pick.
- Diversification, fruit can be sold in farm shops.
- Jams, fruit that is not nice enough to sell on display can be made into jams increasing profits.
- Cow milking machine, less workers have to be employed/ more efficient.

- Pesticides, reduce crop wastage by getting rid of pests.
- Ferstilizers, replenish soil nutrients allowing farmers to have multiple harvests.
- Biofuel, cheaper than food (free energy)
- Technology, more efficient harvest.
- HYV crops, produce more grain per stalk.
- GM crops, seeds are drought resistant so farmer gets 2-3 harvests per year.
