Q

What are the conflicts between Farmers and Tourists? (4)

A
  • Tourists let dogs loose in fields often scaring sheep (and other animals), causing them to give birth prematurely.
  • Tourists leave gates open allowing the farm animals to escape onto roads and often get injured.
  • Tourists park cars on narrow farm roads stopping the farmers machinery getting through.
  • Tourists climb over walls, often damaging them, and giving the farmer extra repair costs.

Q

What are the solutions to the conflicts between Tourists and Farmers? (4)

A
  • Clear ‘no dogs’ or ‘dogs on leads’ signage
  • Kissing gates so that the tourists can still access paths without animals escaping.
  • Off road car parks
  • Wooden ladder stiles, allowing tourists to go over walls without touching them.

Q

Limestone Pavement formation. (4)

A
  • Glaciers scrape the limestone rock bare exposing it to weathering.
  • Rainwater containing carbonic acid dissolves the rock by seeping through the permeable limestone at verticals joints.
  • The rock is chemically weathered and removed in a solution.
  • This leaves a widened joint at the surface called a grike.
