A

The play ends in the same manner that it began. Highlights how Faustus has shown a lack of change in negative traits and ultimately remains powerless, but is now no longer the scholarly figure he was presented as in the start. Instead, he appears foolish and desperate

Where is there bathos in the play?

A

A3S1 - After claiming that Faustus has began to attain noble knowledge of the Universe, Faustus is elevated to carnivalesque comedy as he plays the role of a jester in his trickery on the pope, who he ‘hits him a box of the ear’. - Emphatic of his degradation.
