What happens during the fight or flight response
the hypothalamus activates the sympathetic nervous system and releases a signal to the pituitary gland to release ACTH into the blood.
The SNS activates the Adrenal medulla which releases hormones such as adrenaline which initiates increased breathing and heart rate.
The adrenal cortex is part of your adrenal gland and it releases cortisol
Adrenaline is what triggers the response. It causes your pupils to dilate. it triggers your blood vessels to redirect to major muscle groups such as heart or lungs
