Explain the process of flight or fight

A

The threat occurs and the part of the brain called the amygdala is mobilized.

Sends a message to the hypothalamus which communicates with the rest of the body through the sympathetic nervous system (SNS)

SNS prepares the body for action by sending a message to the adrenal medulla to produce adrenaline

Adrenaline increases heart rate, blood pressure, pupil size, oxygen and glucose to the brain suppressing non-essential systems moving blood away to essential areas

Once the threat has passed the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) restores the system back to normal
