Job Announcements
Public listings on NVAPPS that are open/promotionally competitive. Listings have general information (salary, description, and location).
Applications
It is the applicant’s responsibility to apply for jobs that suit them. It is recommended to apply for state jobs through NVAPPS, although physical copies can be obtained and turned in to DHRM.
Minimum Qualifications
Information regarding the education, experience, and other requirement of a given position.
Promotional Recruitments
Limited to employees with 6 months of continuous full-time employment in the classified service.
Open Competitive Recruitment
Recruitment open to all individuals that meet the minimum qualifications. There is no minimum service requirements for classified employees.
Lists of Eligible Persons and Certification
The most common types of eligible lists. Priorities follow:
1) Reemployment from lay offs or injuries
2) 700 hour lists
3) Legislature transfer lists
4) Divisional promotional lists
5) Departmental promotional lists
6) State-wide promotional lists
7) Open Competitive lists
8) Any combination of the above

Ranked lists assemble the 10 highest scoring candidates for eligibility to fill vacant positions. Unranked lists are reserved for entry level classes, when ranked recruitment fails to find >5 applicants, or when possession of a license or certification is required.
Inquiry of Availability
The hiring agency must contact qualified applicants and inquire their availability for a job interview. The amount of time given for applicants to respond are as follows:
6 day for written/mailed inquiries
2 days for an electronic inquiry
2 day for a telephone (voicemail) inquiry
1 day for a written/hand delivered inquiry
1 day for an in person/oral inquiry
Secondary Employment
Including, but not limited to contracts with the state, temp agencies, and provider agreements.
Anyone with secondary employment must complete a disclosure form and submit it to their agency head within 30 days of acceptance and annually renew it by July 1.
The Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA)
A civil rights act prohibiting discrimination against any disabled individuals.
To be protected, you must have:
1) a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits 1 or more major life activity
2) have a record of such impairment
3) be regarded as having such an impairment.
