Q

What is filtration used for ?

A

Separate an insoluble solid from a liquid
Insoluble means the solid does not dissolve in the liquid

Q

How would we carry out filtration ?

A

First get a conical flask and put a filter funnel with filter paper on the top

Then pour the mixture into the filter paper

The solid cannot pass through and once all the filtrate is separated we have fully spederated the mixture

Q

How do we carry out crystallization ?

A

You get the mixture and place it in a beaker and gently heat the solution which speeds up the reaction to evaporate the water

After some time has passed crystals will from once the water has evaporated
