“Hippie aesthetic” went hand in hand with the shift from dancing music to listening music, which had deeper lyrics that make you think and can be interpreted in different ways, hippies appreciated deep lyrics and detail. Songs were a part of the trip experience to enhance it, or were trips themselves

It was the new way of listening to rock music. and were focused on album cuts. By the end of the decade, most AOR (album-oriented rock) stations were heavily formatted, with program directors and consultants programming the music.

Because horns were made a central component in their music as well as combining it with traditional rock elements
