Tried to introduce DRK. Selected incompetent advisors and gave them titles - insulted other nobles of the land. Always short on money.

The DRK- ship money, tunnage and poundage, used the Court of Star Chamber. Refused to work w parliament.
Why did parliament find it hard to keep Charles I under control and limit his power?
Usually refused to accept parliaments conditions- found a way to rule with parliament. Sold noble titles to those who supported him. Relied on the Magna Carta (kings prerogative).

Tried to limit kings powers. Charles invaded the House of Commons. Parliament called for an army leading to open rebellion.

It gave France one unified code of law.

Wanted to prove for a long term pace plan for Europe. Goal = resize main powers = balance of power in Europe - prevent war.

Saw the birth of factories. Factories made items cheaper and offered many jobs - many people moved into the cities for work.

Access to a number of natural resources; iron and coal. Agriculture had been growing in GB- allowed population to rise.
