What is Fard
Fard means cumpolsary. By leaving a fard action out, the act remains incomplete
What is a wajib
Wajib means necessary. You will be sinful if you intentionally leave out wajib action
What is sunnah
An action which the Prophet Mohamed SAW had carried out. If it is missed out, the action will be done but rewarded less
What is sunnah mu’akkadah
Ac
Actions which the Prophet Mohamed SAW did regularly ( we cannot have a habit of leaving these out)
What is sunnah ghair mu’akkadah
Actions which the Prophet Mohamed SAW did occasionally (these are good to do)
What is Mustahab
Mustahab means preferable in Islam. If a mustahab act is carried out, you will be rewarded and if missed out you will not be sinful
What is mubah
Allowed (halal)
What is makruh tanzihi
Makruk tanzihi means lightly dislkiked. If a makruh tanzihi act is carried out, you will not be sinful or rewarded (We should not have a habit of doing these because Allah can take us to task if it becomes a habit)
What is makruh tahrimi
Makruh tahrimi means severly disliked and close to haram. You will be sinful if carried out
What is haram
haram means forbidden in Islam. If a haram act is carred out, you will be sinful.
What is nawaqid
Nawaqid are actions that break other actions
What is nafl
Nafl means optional. If you wish to carry this action you will be awarded but if you wish to leave it out you will not be sinful
What is taharah
Taharah means cleanliness or purity
What is najasah

What are the 4 fara’id of wudu
- Wash full face from top of forehead to bottom of chin and from earlobe to earlobe once
- Wash both arms including elbows once
- Wip a quartter of head once
- Wash both feet including ankles once
What are the sunnah of wudu
- Make intention
- Say bismillah
- Wash both hands three times
- Brush teeth with miswaak
- Rinse mouth three times
- Put water into nostrils three times
- For men, make khilal of beard
- Make khilal of fingers and toes
- Wipe whole head once
- Wipe ears once
- Wash each part three times
- Wash each part in order
- Wash each part before the other part dries
What are the fara’id of ghusl
- Rinse mouth
- Rinse nose
- Wash entire body so not a single space is left dry
What are sunan of ghusl
- Make intention to become pure
- Wash hands first
- Wash private parts
- Perform wudu
- Pass water over body thrice
When does ghusl become fard
- After ejaculation
- After sexual intercourse
- After ending of menstraul cycle for femails or post-natal bleeding after giving birth
What is najasah ghalizah
Heavy impurities
What is najasah khalifah
Light impurities
List heavy impurities (najasah ghalizah)
- Alcohol made from grapes or dates
- Flowing blood
- Flowing pus
- Vomit (when it is a mouthful)
- Human urine and urine of animals haram to eat
- Human poo
- Poo of predatory animals and dohs
- Semen
- All parts of pig
- Saliva of dogs and predatory animals
- The meat of a dead animal
What is an example of a light impurity (najasah khalifa)
Urine of halal animals such as sheep
What are the nawaqid of wudu
- Pass urine or poo
- Pass wind
- Vomit a mouthful
- Fall asleep whilst leaning on something
- Faint
- Become insane
- Laugh loudly in salah
- Bleed and it flows from any part of body
