  1. Bleeding from body cavities
  2. Vomiting or coughing up blood
  3. Bruising on neck, chest, abdomen or side(between ribs and hip)
  4. Wounds that have penetrated the skull, chest or abdomen
  5. Abdominal tenderness, possibly accompanied by rigidity or spasm of abdominal muscles
  6. Fractures
  7. Shock

What should the First Aid provider do in cases of severe bleeding

  1. Sanitize your hands
  2. Lie the injured person down
  3. While wearing gloves, remove any loose debris from wound
  4. Apply pressure directly on the wound
  5. Maintain pressure until the bleeding stops
  6. Do not remove the gauze or bandage
  7. Squeeze a main artery if necessary
  8. Immobilize the injured body part once the bleeding has stopped
