Indications for FS

• High caries risk
• Deep fissure patterns
• Stagnating plaque
• Newly erupting molars

Procedure

Answer 2

• Isolate tooth with ideally rubber dam but cotton wool and aspiration may do
• Fissure debridement with prophypaste and rotating brush
• 37% phosphoric acid etch gel onto enamel occlusal surface for 20secs
• Etch washed off and dried with 3-1 air water syringe
• Look for frosty appearance (indcates creation of micro-porosities which aid micro mechnical retention of FS
• Resin composite fissure sealant into fissures with ball ended prove
• Light cure (470nm wavelength) 20secs to initiate polymerization reaction of resin monomer
• Check integrity with sharp probe
