What is cardiovascular endurance?
The heart’s ability to deliver blood to working muscles and their ability to use it
It allows continuous exercise for extended periods without tiring.
What are other names for cardiovascular endurance?
- Aerobic capacity
- Aerobic endurance
- Cardiorespiratory endurance
What does muscular strength refer to?
The ability to express force
It includes maximum strength and repetition maximum.
What is one repetition maximum (1RM)?
The maximal amount of force produced in one contraction
It can also refer to the maximal force applied up to 10 times.
Define local muscular endurance.
The muscle(s) capacity to continue contracting for a period of time while experiencing fatigue
What does flexibility refer to?
The range of motion around a joint.
What is body composition?
Body size such as height, length, girths, and distribution of muscle to body fat.
What is agility?
The ability to change direction quickly and accurately.
Define muscular power.
The ability to produce maximal force as quickly as possible in a contraction.
What is balance?
The maintenance of a body’s state of equilibrium
This can be dynamic or static.
What does coordination involve?
Performing a motor skill fluently and effectively.
Define reaction time.
The time between receiving a stimulus and starting a response.
What does speed involve?
Movement from one point to another in the fastest possible time.
