Foot Flashcards
1st layer: Flexor digitorum brevis
O: calcaneus; plantar aponeurosis; intermuscular septum.
I: Both sides of middle phalanges, of internal 4 digits.
A: flexes lateral 4 digits at PIP, supports medial and lateral longitudinal arches.
N: Medial plantar nerve (S2, S3)
1st layer: Abductor hallucis
O: calcaneus; flexor retinaculum; plantar aponeurosis
I: medial side of the base proximal phalanx of digit 1.
A: abducts and flexes 1st digit. Supports longitudinal arch.
N: Medial plantar nerve (S2 S3)
Plantar aponeurosis connects to
all 5 proximal phalanges and calcareous
1st layer: Abductor digiti minimi
O: Calcaneus, plantar aponeurosis, intermuscular septum.
I: base of proximal phalanx (lateral side)
Action: abducts and flexes little toe. supports lateral longitudinal arch of the foot.
N: Lateral plantar nerve (S2, S3)
2nd layer you see what tendons what else ?
flexor digitorum longus.
medial and lateral plantar nerve and artery.
2nd layer: quadratus plantae
O: medial and lateral surfaces of calcaneus
I: tendon of flexor digitorum longus.
A: Assists flexor digitorum longus in flex
N: Lateral plantar nerve (S2 S3)
2nd: Lumbricals
O: Tendons of flexor digitorum longus
I: Medial aspect of expansions over lateral 4 digits
A: flex proximal phalanges, extend middle and distal of later 4 digits.
N: Medial 1 medial plantar nerve (S2 S3). Lateral 3, lateral planter nerve.
3rd Layer: Flexor Hallucis brevis
O: plantar surface of cuboid and lateral cuneiforms
I: Both sides of the base of the proximal phalanx of 1st digit. Semisolid bone.
A: flex MTP 1. supports medial longitudinal arch.
N: median plantar nerve (S2, S3)
