Q

what to consider if curly toes are persistent

A

flexor tenotomy

A

congenital deformity with abnormal alignment of joints between talus, calcaneus and navicular

19
Q

what does the abnormal alignment of joints in club foot result in?

A

contractures of soft tissue resulting in deformity consisting of ankle equinus, supination of forefoot and varus alignment of the forefoot

20
Q

management of club foot

A

early splintage using Ponseti technique
held in plaster casts with 5 or 6 weekly cast changes
80% require tenotomy of Achilles tendon for full correction
once full correction child is placed in a brace consisting of a boots attached to a bar which is worn 23 hours a day for 3 months and then used during sleep until 3-4 years to prevent reoccurrence
delayed presentations need extensive surgery

21
Q

hallus valgus

A

medial toe deviation

22
Q

cavus feet

A

abnormally high arch

23
Q

hypermobility diagnosis

A

Beighton score 9/9

24
Q

define rockerbottom foot (congenital vertical talus)

A

prominently heel and rounded sole

25
which sydromes does rockerbottom feet present in?
Edwards (trisomy 18) | Patau's (trisomy 13)
26
what is different about a growing pain presentation?
