only magnitude no direction
what is an example of scalar quantity?
- speed

what is a force?
a push or pull on an object that is caused by interacting with something
what is a contact force?
two objects have to be touching for a force to act
what is a non contact force?
the objects don’t need to be touching for a force to act
what is an example of contact force?
- air resistance

what is an example of a non contact force?
- gravity
- magnetic
- electrostatic
what is neutons 3rd law?
when 2 objects interact there have a force that is equal and opposite
how are weight and mass related?
weight and mass are directly proportional
what is a resultant force?
the overall force on a object
what is work done?
the useful energy transferred
what happens if the resultant force is 0?
- if object is still it remains stationary
* if moving the object remains at constant speed
