Q

how does suction cup work?

A

when it is pressed onto the wall, most of the air is squeezed out from under the suction cup, decreasing the air pressure between the suction cup and the wall.

As atmospheric pressure is now greater than the pressure of the trapped air under the suction cup, the atmospheric pressure holds the suction cup firmly against the wall.

Q

How does a straw work

A

You suck some air from the straw, you suck some air in the straw, it makes the pressure inside the straw lower. Atmospheric pressure then pushes the liquid up the straw into your mouth
