What is a force?
A force is when objects are physically touching, and can be contact or non contact
What is an example of a contact force and a non contact force?
Pushing a door = Contact
Magnets = Non Contact
What is a scalar?
Quantity of a force that only has MAGNITUDE
What is a vector?
Quantity of a force that has MAGNITUDE and DIRECTION
What happens when two forces act on an object?
Creates a resultant force and can be found by adding vectors, however if they go on opposite directions one must be opposite
What do you use if vectors are at right angles to each other?
Use Pythagoras to find the resultant force, or SOHCAHTOA
What happens if forces are balanced?
The object will not accelerate or stays at a constant velocity
What is an example of some Scalars?
Distance
Speed
Mass
Energy
Temperature
What is an example of some vectors?
Displacement
Velocity
Acceleration
Force
Momentum
