Narration
In chronological order the author tells a story from first event to last event
Description
When the author uses vivid words to describe an experience with a subject to make a point
Example
The author gives one example or a few to back up or explain their point

Author makes a point by showing a event or situation will cause another

The author makes a point by showing two things are alike or unlike each other

Author makes a point by comparing two things and using one to explain the other

When the author uses sub headings and puts things in to categories making a point
Process analysis
Shows how something happens or how something is done in stages to make a point

The big stuff so how the essay as a whole is organized
