Securing the throne to mute domestic and international threat
Tour of the NE put off Yorkist pretenders. Maintained good relations w/france in the beginning bc France helped to fund bosworth.
Truce w/scotland 1486- 3 yr truce w/james iii- peaceful relationship w/the border, focus on securing his throne domestically.
1506 Philip of burgundy’s vulnerability- sheltered from storm, agreed to hand over Suffolk, preventing threat of reb
Ca- fp were one of the greatest threats to his consolidation
E.g simnel supported Ireland and burgundy. Irish antagonism was not unusual but to have burgundy against England was unusual bc was England’s greatest ally during the 100 year war- threatening. But warbeck no support from north of England.

Married Arthur to cof a , showed the dynasty was accepted international. It was powerful and well-regarded enough to marry into one of the most powerful European families of the time. Equal footing.
Margaret to James iv- diminish the threat that Scotland could pose and showed that the dynasty was being accepted as a royal family. Treaties- foreign countries recognise him as king.
Good relations with France and the League- he had been accepted across Europe by many different countries in different regards: commercial, marriage= rightful king
