Fuel System SY107 Flashcards
(33 cards)
How are the wing tanks refueled?
Pressure refueling or gravity fill
How is fuel fed to the engine?
By a motive flow system (creating a pressure differential)
What does the electric boost pump do?
Provide pressure in case is engine driven low pressure fuel pump failure.
What does the flip-flop valve do?
Supplies fuel feed during negative G
How many announciators for the fuel system are there?
6
What are the names of the three integral tanks?
Left and right wing tank and collector tank
What is the max capacity of the fuel tanks? What about if you use the primary refueling method?
1200 pounds/1100 pounds
What’s the distribution of fuel when using primary fueling method?
530 lbs in each wing tank, 40 in central collector tank
What is the primary refueling method called?
Single point pressure refueling
If the collector tank is empty how will the fuel feed to the collector tank during refueling?
Gravity feed
How long does it take to fill the tanks (using pressurization)?
3-5 minutes
What controls the refueling shutoff?
The level control pilot valves
How long does it take to defuel the aircraft?
5 minutes
What is he secondary refueling method? And what is the fuel capacity using this method?
Over the wing gravity refueling. And 50 lbs more per tank (total of 1200 lbs)
Is there an automatic shutoff function for over the wing gravity refueling?
No
What does the electric boost pump do?
Provide fuel during initial startup. And it serves as a backup to the engine-driven low pressure fuel pump.
What does the manifold valve do, and where is it located?
Connect the boost and primary pump in the front of the collector tank.
If the fuel filter is restricted what then happens?
The fuel bypass is enabled.
What are the two shutoff valves called?
Firewall shutoff valve and maintenance shutoff valve
That does the low pressure fuel pump do?
Provide fuel to the high pressure fuel pump and then on to the FMU.
What is the FMU?
Fuel Management Unit (controls fuel delivery to the engine)
Where does excess fuel go?
To the collector tank through the purge line
What senses fuel pressure in the motive flow line?
The 10 psi pressure switch?
When will the FUEL PX light illuminate?
If fuel pressure drops below 10 psi and PCL is above the start ready position
