Likes it because it teaches secondary socialisation e.g mock interviews, work experience
Prepares for future career with heirarchies
e.g Headteacher is the boss, teacher is superior, student is the worker

Define Social solidarity
The ties that bind people together in society
Two forms of social solidarity and define
Pre-industrial era had ‘mechanical solidarity’ - Small communities, religion, divine rights of monarch, agriculture
Modern era had ‘organic solidarity’ - New bonds with similar experience either through work, religion, new neighbourhoods etc
= Education ensures solidarity isn’t lost
Davis and Moore Role allocation
Getting people to get into roles that are most appropriate to them
Education does it by encouraging the subjects you do best in e.g target grades, exams, gcse subjects

Organic analogy - The roles function the people
Social solidarity - As it creates independence people will rely on other creating stronger social bonds
Myth of meritocracy - Social class plays a role in determing the outcomes
