To transport male sperm cells to the egg. Provides a suitable environment for fertilisation. Transportation of the egg from the ovary, where it is produced, to the central channel (lumen)
Fallopian Tube
Inner lining of the uterus that thickens and sheds in a process known as menstruation. If conception takes place, the embryo implants into it.
Endometrium
Produces female sex hormones. Estrogen and progesterone. Release the egg (ovulation)
Ovaries
Where a fertilised egg implants during pregnancy and where a baby develops until birth. It’s also responsible for the menstrual cycle.
Uterus
Functions as the receptacle for the penis during sexual intercourse and carries sperm to the uterus and fallopian tubes. It also serves as the birth canal by stretching to allow delivery of the fetus during childbirth
Vagina
Plays a vital role in the control of the movement into and out of the uterus. Protection of the fetus during pregnancy and the delivery of the fetus during childbirth.
