How is blood cell production a function of the skeleton?
Red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets are produced in the bone marrow.
How is muscle attachment a function of the skeleton?
Bones provide a surface for muscles to attach to via tendons. When muscles contract movement is achieved .
How is mineral storage a function of the skeleton?
Calcium, phosphorus and other minerals are stored with in the bones. these minerals are vital for bodily functions in addition they are responsible for making bones and keeping them strong.
How are joints for movement a function of the skeleton?
A joint is a place where two bones meet, joints in conjunction with muscles are vital for allowing the body to move.
What is flexion?
When the angle of the joint decreases.
What is extension?
Web the angle of the joint increases.
What is rotation?
Circular movements around a fixed joint.
What is abduction?
Moving a limb away from the centre line of your body.
What is adduction?
Moving a limb towards the centre line of your body.
How is protection a function of the skeleton?
Many bones act as a rigid shell and they protect vital organs and the nervous system. They are vital for performance and long term health.
What are the 5 functions of the skeleton?
