galvanic Flashcards
(10 cards)
current
galvanic uses a low voltage direct constant current.
how does it work
The current is applied through electrodes in the form of gel conductive pads attatched to the skin. The conductive gel is a solution that conducts electricity (salt and water) which when soaked in the pad creates sodium hydroxide. The intensity and polarity is adjusted based on the desired outcome.
how often
recommend a course of 10 treatments 2-3 times a week
negative polarity - cathode 8 minutes effects
stimulates, softens and opens pores
increases blood flow
breaks down fatty deposits and tissue congestion
cellulite breakdown
positive polarity - anode 2 minutes
firms and tightens skin
closes pores
cellulite firming
contraindications do not treat
pacemaker
epilepsy
metal implants
heart disease
contra indications avoid area
bruises
vaircose veins
sunburn
contra actions
redness or warmth in treated area
tingling or itching of area
temporary skin sensitivity
safety
apply conductive gel to pads
test machine
check pads for cracks or rips
