What do the testes produce?
Sperm in the seminiferous tubules
Testosterone in the interstitial cells
What are the accessory glands?
Prostate gland and seminal vesicles
They secrete fluids that maintain the mobility and viability of sperm
(Sperm + fluids = semen)
What are the causes of infertility(sperm production)?
Make producing fewer sperm cells(most common)
Immobile sperm
Abnormal sperm shape
What do the ovaries contain?
Immature ova(plural) in various stages of development
What is each ovum(single) surrounded by?
A follicle that protects the developing ovum and secretes hormones
What happens during fertilisation?
Mature ova are released into the oviduct where they may be fertilised by sperm to form a zygote
