When testing for hydrogen-What should you hold at the end of an open test tube?
A lit splint
When testing for hydrogen-What sound is produced to indicate hydrogen is a present?
A squeaky pop sound
When testing for hydrogen-Why is a squeaky pop sound produced?
This is because hydrogen burns rapidly in the presence of O2 to give H2O, therefore giving a squeaky pop sound

An aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide (lime water)
When testing for Carbon Dioxide-What colour will it turn from and to if CO2 is present?
The colour will turn from colourless to cloudy if CO2 is present
When testing for Chlorine-What should you insert into the test tube containing a gas?
Damp litmus paper
When testing for Chlorine-If the gas is chlorine, what will happen to the litmus paper?
The litmus paper will bleach and change colour from red to white
When testing for Oxygen-What should you place and hold inside the test tube?
You should place and hold a glowing splint inside of a test tube
When testing for Oxygen-What will happen to the split if O2 is present?
The splint will relight
