decline in manufacturing is the decline in traditional factory or trade jobs
context- decline caused by globalisation and companies producing material abroad to reduce costs
working class men percieve they have no future as these were the jobs they admired
what are vocational courses and how does it
affect men
vocational courses is a course which teach men the appropriate skills for learning the trade.
there is a huge reduction in the uk for these courses compared to other countries.
e.g. uk-4% , germany- 20%
working class dont know what course to take, dont try in school.
what is the crisis of masculinity
decline of traditional man hood due to decline of manufacturing and womens independence.
men are threatened by women achievements and lost their societal identity.
men are also now stigmatised as opressors
what is the differences between socialisation between men and women
girls- gentle socialisation, quite, passive, play with dolls
boys- playing to let off steam, sports, blue, superheroes and fighting

introduction of different acts to introduce equal rights-
equal pay act- women more inclined to get a job as they recieve pay they deserve.
divorce act- women independence, no longer reliant on marriage, can divorce and live alone

now- career then family

why are women more admirable than men to employers
- they have better presentation skills

dual earner household- both parents have a stable income
how does a lone parent household motivate girls
lone parent houses lead by women motivate girls because-
mom has own income
shows independence due to divorce
mom is a strong role model
motivates girls to work hard and get a good income
