Q

What does RNA polyamerase do?

A

Does the transcription process, binds to the promotor at the start of a gene, winds through the DNA, adding nucleotides following the base-pair rules.

Once it reaches the end, the RNA strand is released

Q

What are the 3 main types of RNA and what is their purpose

A

messenger RNA
ribosomal RNA - forms structural part of ribosomes
transfer RNA - helps with the translation process, reads mRNA and translates the code

Q

Which one has to be removed? Intron or exon

A

introns must be removed from the pre-mRNA by a process called splicing

Q

coding region

A

The region of a gene that contains the actual instructions, introns and exons, introns must be removed before the mRNA is finished
