Q

VAE

A

Approximately 3-5 mL/kg bolus of air and 10-15 mL/kg bolus of CO2 are sufficient to result in a fatal air lock situation.

large enough volume of air will cause an air lock which prevents blood from exiting the right heart into the pulmonary circulation.
