It can be repeated for the same result
What makes research valid?
It shows the true picture of what the researcher is trying to measure
What is primary data?
Data that is collected first hand (eg through observations, questionnaires, etc)
What is the pros of primary data?
1) it is always brand new/up to date
2) it doesn’t rely on other researchers data/can be hand selected to fit your needs and topic
What are the cons of primary research?
1) can be time consuming and expensive
2) can put researchers in dangerous situations
3) researchers may be influenced by their own values/bias’s
What is secondary data?
Research that uses existing information
What are the pro’s of using secondary data?
1) quick and easy to collect
2) can be used to compare different societies
3) can be used to study the past
What are the cons of secondary data?
1) documents may not be authentic, representative or valid
2) may not believe to find the data needed for research
3) your values get can in the way of analysing data
