General Wave Properties Flashcards

1
Q

A

A periodic motion travelling disturbance repeated at regular intervals, which transfer energy from one point to another without any transfer of matter.

Q

Water waves travelling from deep to shallow water…

A

slows down. The wavelength of the plane waves shortens as they travel from deep to shallow water, the frequency remains unchanged as it is determined by the dipper. Using v = fλ, the speed of waves is lower at the shallow water.
