Ear position; low set, posteriorly rotated indicates lack of maturity
What features of the eyes are considered in a dysmorphic child?
Hypertelorism
- inner canthal distance (ICD) and inter-pupillary distance (IPD) increased
Telecanthus/epicanthic folds
- ICD increased and IPD normal
What features of the hand are considered in a dysmorphic child?
Finger length
Digital abnormalities
Palmar creases
NORMAL hand length; MF/THL is usually <44%
What is polydactyly?
Extra fingers
What is syndactyly?
Fused fingers
What is polysyndactyly?
combination syndactyly and polydactyly
What is acrocephalopolysyndactyly?
tall head/forehead
+ polysyndactyly

What is Pierre-Robin sequence?
Small chin causing cleft palate
What is fetal akinesia sequence?
Reduced foetal movement causes abnormalities

Two features or more occurring together more often than expected by change

Distinct group of symptoms and signs which, associated together, form a characteristic clinical picture or entity

Hormonal therapy migrates some features
