What is a destructive margins?
The contact between two lithospheric plates that are moving towards each other and where oceanic crust is being destroyed by subduction.
What is a conservative plate?
where two crustal plates slide past each other, and the movement of the plates is parallel to the plate margin
What is a collision zone?
When two continental plates collide, the land between them is forced upwards to form fold mountains.
What is a divergent/constructive plate?
A divergent plate boundary is a linear feature that forms when two tectonic plates move away from each other
What are the main types of volcanos?
The most well-known types of volcanoes are cinder cones, composite volcanoes (stratovolcanoes), and shield volcanoes.
What happened to Sichuan?
There was an earthquake at Sichuan measuring 8 on the Richter scale. There was a death toll of 69000 dead. 5300 of the dead are schoolchildren. The main reason why there were so many deaths was because of how poor the city was. Most of the infrastructure was destroyed as it was shabbily constructed. It happened on 12 May 2008
Christchurch earthquake
The Christchurch earthquakes happened on 4 September 2010 and 22 February 2011. The first earthquake happened in the middle of the night, so everyone was jolted awake. Luckily everyone was unharmed. There was some damage to the infrastructure. One year later another earthquake hit the Christchurch region. This time it was in the middle of the day, so there were many people inside tall buildings. There were 185 victims of the earthquake. Most of the people who died were inside the CTV building.
