What is Space
The way features are arranged on earths surface (spatial distribution)
What is Place
Parts of the earth that are identified and given meaning by humans.
What is Interconnection
Relationship between all things and processes (Natural and Cultural)
What is Change
The difference in a space over a period of time ( Can be over short or long periods of time).
What is Environment
Characteristics of a place that have certain features. (living and non living elements)
What is Sustainability
Ongoing capacity of the earth to maintain life and management of resources for current and future generations.
What is scale.
The level at which a geographical inquiry takes place.
What is Biosphere
The elements of earth including earths surface and water and surrounds that make up living environments.
What is lithosphere
The solid outer part of the Earth’s crust
What is atmosphere
A mixture of gasses that surround the earth like air.
What is hydrosphere
All the water on the planet including on the surface and underground etc.
Human-centered view?
earth resources are limitless and the development of human features and the economy should take priority over the natural world.

The definition of climate change?
any change in climate over time, due to natural processes or human activities.
The definition of global warming?
The observable rising trend in earths atmospheric temperatures.
what does the natural greenhouse effect do?
The natural greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere keep some of the sun’s heat inside the earth’s atmosphere, keeping it at the right temp for life.
what is the enhanced greenhouse effect?
humans are adding more greenhouse which traps more heat in the earth’s atmosphere and warms the earth.
What is Beach nourishment?
Sand is taken from one beach to another to enlarge a beach that is in need.
What are Groynes?
structures designed to trap sand being moved by longshore drift.
what are sea walls?
structure placed parallel to the shore line to separate the land from water.
what are offshore breakwaters?
structures placed parallel to the shore in deep waters to break destructive waves before the reach shore.
