Geometry: Ch. 1 Theorems Flashcards
(10 cards)
Postulate 1-2
Line Intersection Postulate
If two lines intersect, then they intersect in exactly one point.
Postulate 1-1
Point Line Postulate
Through any two points there is exactly one line
Postulate 1-3
Plane Intersection Postulate
If two planes intersect, then they intersect in exactly one line.
Postulate 1-4
Noncollinear Points Postulate
Through any three noncollinear points there is exactly one plane.
Ruler postulate
A segment can be measured with a ruler
Segment Addition Postulate
If three points A, B, and C are collinear and B is between A and C, then AB + BC = AC
Protractor Postulate
You can measure an angle using a protractor
Angle Addition Postulate
Same as Segment Addition Postulate but with angles
Postulate 1-9
Congruent Figure Postulate
If two figures are congruent, then their areas are congruent.
Postulate 1-10
Area Sum Postulate
The area of a region is the sum of the areas of it’s nonoverlapping parts
