Five Year Plans
Plans outlined by Josef Stalin in the Soviet Union beginning in 1928 for the development of the Soviet economy, emphasizing industrialization. This was also instituted by Mao Zedong in Communist China
Four Modernizations
Set of goals adopted by the communist chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in the late 20th century, involving progress in agriculture, defense, and science and technology
Fourteen Points
A series of proposals in which the U.S. President Woodrow Wilson outlined a plan for achieving a lasting peace after World War I. Part of the plan included creating a world peace organization called the League of Nations which was a part of the peace treaty the Treaty of Versailles. The U.S. Senate rejected the treaty due to the inclusion of the League of Nations
Free Trade
Commerce or trade between nations without economic restrictions or barriers such as tariffs
Genocide
Systematic killing of an entire religious or ethnic group. Examples are the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing by the Serbs

Was the bloodless overthrow of the English King James II and his replacement by William and Mary. The revolutionary change was Parliament assuming control of the government at the expense of the monarchy
Golden Age
The high point of a civilization. It is a time of peace and prosperity. The people are living good lives. There is no lack of the essentials for life. There are intellectual achievements in the arts, the sciences, mathematics, and literature. Trade (Commerce) takes place with other civilization
Great Depression
Severe world wide economic slump that followed the collapse of the U.S. stock market in 1929. Major features were banks and businesses closing closing, and extreme unemployment
Green Revolution
20th century attempt to increase food resources worldwide, involving the use of fertilizers and pesticides and the development of disease resistant crops
Gross National Product (GNP)
The total value of goods and services produced by a nation in one year

Member of a loosely organized fighting force that makes surprise attacks on enemy troops occupying his or her country. An example would be the Vietcong
